To ensure and improve the academic experience for students and fellow colleagues, professional development is a major cornerstone of my academic effectiveness and success. Professional development strengthens the core concepts of education and ensures that we as nurse educators stay up-to-date on changing trends, concepts, and educational theories that promote the science and practice of nursing.

The following links are examples that contribute to my “Professional Development”

Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing (NLN) – by becoming credentialed as a certified nurse educator, it communicates to students, peers, and the academic and health care communities my commitment to the highest standards of excellence for teaching.

A new and improved NCLEX exam is coming – Next Generation NCLEX (NGN). Therefore, it was imperative that I take steps to start learning about the Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) exam in order to ensure that I adjust teaching concepts and in-class exams to better prepare students for the NGN.  I attended and participated in a workshop sponsored by our nursing school (Rutgers-Camden) with Linda Caputi, an award-winning educator, on 9-14-2019.

I am a Digital Teaching Fellow (2017) – A summer program designed to expose and teach faculty how to integrate digital tools and to implement effective pedagogical practices. The program spreads enthusiasm for teaching unique digital techniques to enhance students’ learning in the classroom.  I incorporate a variety of learning apps and technologies into my classes.
